1. General FAQ
How much does it cost?
Our basic service starts at $30 per month. A setup fee of $50 applies when you first publish your site.
We have a variety of premium services which may involve additional monthly or one-time charges. For details, see our Features page.
Can I include other products in my catalog?
Yes, but this is a premium service; see the Features Page for details.
Note that even at the basic level, you can add additional pages to your site, and they can include whatever product information you desire. But they won't be integrated with our built-in catalog items.
Do I have to log in every time I visit the Styler?
No, unless you want it that way. When you log in on the main Wizard page, notice the check box labeled 'Remember Me.' If checked, the Styler will save a permanent cookie on your browser.
If you leave the box unchecked, we'll still set a cookie, but it will expire when you close your browser. On later visits you will be asked to log in when you visit a restricted wizard Styler page.
What is a 'Preview Site?'
Your preview site allows you to see the effects of any changes you make before you publish them for the world to see.
You should always create a preview site whenever you make changes.
How Many Pages Will My Site Contain?
This depends on the products you select for your catalog, and the other pages you choose to include in your site. A full-blown site may contain over 500 pages.
Do I need to buy products from Americana, or have an Americana online account?
No. If you do business with Americana, however, we can save you some time. First, your Styler account information will be copied from Americana, so you don't have to fill repetitive forms.
Also, the Styler makes it really easy to use Americana as your supplier when you take orders from your Styler site.
How long can I keep a preview site before I publish?
As long as you like. There is no charge for setting up a preview site, and no time limit.
However, we'll keep asking you to publish your site!

2. Design FAQ
How can I change my main catalog page?
Some of the content of your Styler site comes from programming code that we call widgets. The main catalog page, for example, uses a widget to create the catalog search interface.
To change the catalog widget, click on the Your Site's Pages link. Click the Content button for the catalog page. Then click the Catalog Widget link. You'll be able to select from several different widgets.
The process is basically the same for for any styler widget.
I changed a page, but when I view it nothing appears to be different. Why?
Changes don't take effect on a page until your preview or publish the page (or your whole site).
To preview or publish a page, visit the Styler Content page and click the desied button. Or, choose Site Preview from the Wizard navigation menu.
Also, remember to refresh or reload a page after you have published or previewed it to make sure you are looking at an up to date copy.
Can I add images to my site?
Yes. You'll be asked specifically to upload a logo (although you don't have to). You can upload other images as well. Plus, we provide access to lots of stock images, bullets, logos, and huge built-in catalog!
Do I need to know HTML?
No. Even without HTML expertise, you can create a professional-looking site.
But if you do know something about web page design, you can use it to create a look and feel all your own.

3. Domain Name FAQ
I don't want a domain name. What will my site address be?
We'll place your site under the embellishers.com domain. You get to pick the name of your web site folder. For example, a typical site address might be:
www.embellishers.com/sabrinasfashions
I already own a domain name. How do I make it point to my Styler web site?
We can handle this one of two ways. First, we can assume the technical contact role for your domain. This will require permission from either the administrative or billing contact from the domain.
Second, we can advise the current technical contact of your site's new address.
Generally, hosting services should manage support for the domains they host, so we usually use the first method.
Can I assign more than one domain name to my site?
Yes. There is a slightly higher hosting fee for multiple domains (see the Features page). The Wizard won't accept more than one domain name, so if you want this, send us Feedback.
Why can I only request .com and .org domain names?
For efficiency reasons, the Wizard allows only these two common domains. If you want an international domain name, let us know.
We strongly discourage the use of domain names ending in .net, unless you are in the business of offering Internet access or hosting services.

4. Security FAQ
Can anyone see my preview site?
It is possible, but extremely unlikely, that anyone but you will see your preview site.
We give your preview site a 'random' directory name; we don't publish it, and no one is likely to guess it. But, your preview site is not password-protected.
So, just in case, we delete the contents of your preview site every few hours. You can do the same whenever you want, and of course, you can regenerate a new preview anytime.
For added security, keep two things in mind:
- If your site is set to Auto-Rebuild, your preview settings may be used at any time to republish your live site. If you don't want this to happen, turn this option off.
- Don't give out your preview site address, and don't put a link to it on any page that is accessible to the search engines. Otherwise your preview site may be indexed!

5. Troubleshooting FAQ
What is a 404 error, and why am I getting it?
A 404 message comes from the web server when you request a page that does not exist.
The same message occurs if you request a web site's default page, and it does not have one. If you get this when you are viewing a styler page, one of these things may be the cause:
You haven't published your site
You are not publishing a default page with your site (maybe it is missing or disabled)
I am confused or lost.
The Styler is a very complicated system, and we admit our help pages are pretty lame in some places.
That's why we offer free phone support at 877 283-2904 during from 9 to 5 eastern time, Monday through Friday. Call us or send feedback if you need help.
I am trying to upload a logo, but I can't find it on my PC. I know it's there.
If you use Netscape and click the Browse button to upload a file, the browser will by default look for web page files. To see image files, click the drop-down box labeld 'File of Type,' and select 'All Files' from the list.

6. Commerce FAQ
What if I have products with missing prices or weights?
Your site will tolerate all kinds of missing information. If you don't provide a product weight, the site won't display shipping charges. If a price is missing, the site won't display it.
If the site can't calculate an order price for whatever reason, the customer can still send the order as a request for quote.
Why do my built-in style and catalog items, have different names?
Catalog and style information comes from the wholesaler's database. The catalog name comes from the wholesaler's printed catalog. The style name, on the other hand, comes from the wholesaler's internal data system. So, sometimes the two names are different.
What does commerce capability include?
You commerce-enabled site will include complete order and pricing capability. Styler sites are made for embellishers, so they handle apparel products beautifully. But they also support products of any type.
Styler sites also support embellished orders. You can specify printing and embroidery for any combination of thread count, quantity, and number of colors. Placement options are supported, as are stock designs.
What shipping options are are available?
Styler sites get shipping rates directly from UPS. You control how these charges are applied and what options will be available to your customers. You can also specify minumum or fixed shipping charges, as well as local dlivery and pickup options.
Are credit cards supported?
Credit card support will be available in Fall of 2000. We'll help you set up a merchant account if necessary, or you can use a current account (your bank must work with NOVA credit card processor).
I have thousands of SKUs. How easy is it to add them?
We provide several wizards to help you set up your commerce database. Plus, our Mass Change feature allows you to easily make changes to your database that apply to multiple products.
We can also read product data in text or spreadsheet format. Note that additional charges may apply for this service.
